Celebrate Brit Week

I love any reason to celebrate pretty much anything so I was thrilled to learn that somebody thought of the brilliant idea to celebrate everything British.

This is what I am celebrating:

Prince William and Kate's nuptials.
Mirror News
Honestly, nobody reminded the dear chap Willie to smile during his photo shoot?

More importantly, Kate's stunning ring.
First Class Fashionista
Awesome Britt musicians such as Queen, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Clash and

Tea and crumpets.

Tasty fish and chips. I prefer halibut, thank you.

Chic Bicycle Culture

My favorite thing about visiting large cities is to admire the bicycle culture, even when those cities may not be very bicycle friendly.

Such a clever place to stash a bicycle.
San Francisco
Brilliant bicycle parking lot in Seoul, Korea.
DesignRulz
 I have always wanted to tour the European countryside by bicycle, doesn't it sound superb?

Smores Make A Girl Go Wild!

How was your weekend? Our weekend was so wonderfully busy. We hosted dinner and smores and had a blast!
Joel, Kellie (baby Hunter hasn't made his big debut yet), and me
Because hubbs didn't get the text message about picking up smores essentials, we had to make a quick stop at the neighborhood 7 Eleven.  Much to my dismay, they did not have graham crackers.  We thought we would get creative with some Canelitas crackers because that was the closest thing to graham crackers at 7 Eleven.

Hubbs

The end result was good.  The Canelitas had a lot of cinnamon and were really crunchy; they were pretty tasty. However, I am a purist and would still stick with the graham cracker in the future.

Even Luka had a smashing good time.

 What is your favorite type of smores?

Eco chic

Who doesn't want to help out Mother Earth whenever possible?  With Earth Day tomorrow, I have been busy thinking about how to make some lifestyle changes.  Perhaps fixing up items that may otherwise be discarded.

Here are a couple ideas that I have borrowed and intend to utilize in my little abode.

Garden storage with a used ladder. This would also be great as a bookshelf in an area with high ceilings, or perhaps a loft.

Found in Sunset magazine
This would also make a wonderful beverage cart in a dining room:

Living at the beach, I come across the most interest things. This is a great idea for a coat rack or a place to hang keys:

For the Love of Teal

I am absolutely obsessed with the color teal.  Teal reminds me of the ocean. It makes me feel grounded.
Sodahead
Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia; thanks Joelle for the pic!
My idée fixe with the color teal is reminiscent of last year's infatuation with sky blue when one evening, after a bottle or two of wine, I decided it would be a brilliant idea to paint my guest bathroom, my master bathroom's ceiling, my dining room chairs, and a cabinet the same sky blue.

Other than this door, here are a few of my inspiration pieces:

Love the contrast of bright white with splashes of teal and purple...

Bahraini Diva
Love the crisp teal wall with gold mirrors.  Do you see my reflection in one of the mirrors?  Such nice camera work!

Please excuse my blackberry's subpar camera
This photo has a lot going on but I love the green mixed with teal.
Bahraini Diva
What a fabulous dining space.  The wall color mixed with natural accents actually makes the room appear larger.
belle maison
A traditional yet modern feel on teal.

Easter Festivities

Easter was always my favorite holiday as a child.  A holiday full of small furry animals, chocolate, brunch, and pretty dresses is sure to please me.

The perfect brunch consists of several key ingredients:

A very simply collection of meats, eggs, and vegetables

Pea and Brie Quiche;

For dessert, try a decadent chocolate croissant bread pudding;

Mimosas;

And don't forget the family!

What special plans do you have for Easter?

Celebrate National Kite Month

Who doesn't love to fly kites? It is reminiscent of those carefree childhood summers.  If you haven't noticed, kites these days have changed significantly from the Sesame Street kite I had circa 1984.

Celebrate the weekend with a picnic and a kite flying contest!
